3D News: The 3D-Bee Trainer Gets A Makeover, New Name & Style

Watch everything in 3D with the 3D-Bee 2D to 3D hardware converter Back when we here at VEFXi were coming up with names for our three types of 2D to 3D converters we settled on the 3D-Bee Home, 3D-Bee Trainer and the 3D-Bee Professional, this you may be aware of. A lot of people have asked us where we got these names especially Trainer. We really do have a reason and a good explanation although since things have not unfolded as we envisioned, be it far better, we are changing the name 3D-Bee Trainer to 3D-Bee Platinum. The 3D-Bee Trainer will remain though, technically as the model name for the 3D-Bee Platinum. The reason: for all those intensive purposes.

As to not leave you hanging, let’s get to the explanation of where the heck the name Trainer came from.

When CEO, Craig Peterson set out to create an award-winning 2D to 3D hardware converter he did not intend to have the current three models. We initially just had the 3D-Bee Home originally and oh-so descriptively called the 2D to 3D Converter Box which was built for standard side-by-side 3D TVs and side-by-side 3D projectors. Then there was the idea to expand 3D conversion capabilities to the more common type of projector; the frame-sequential projector and adding extra depth options, resulting in the 3D-Bee Trainer.

Finally the 3D-Bee Professional was born into the mix. If you’re unaware, the 3D-Bee Professional enables the brightest and most cost effective way to project high quality 3D at 1080p.

So there we were with three unnamed 2D to 3D converter boxes that needed to be distinguished and possibly with a name hinting at their capabilities. The possibilities were wide open at the time. We discussed naming each model a different animal, we first had the 3D-Bee, then we could have the 3D-Rabbit and who knows, the 3D-Bee Elk. We also toyed with naming each successive converter a different insect name with 3D-Bee for the original, then the 3D-Wasp and so on…

After much thinking we all liked 3D-Bee and already had designed a logo (thanks to Pamela Peterson) and we didn’t want to have to repeat that for each of the other two models. Finally we had the idea to have each model named after the location where it would most be used. Home was easy. Professional results from the 3D-Bee Professional commonly being used at event establishments and in large venues while the Trainer, so we thought, would mostly be used in school classrooms and corporate training rooms.

Alas, with the Trainer-now-Platinum’s awesome depth changing capabilities and funcionality to work on 3D TVs and SBS and FS projectors, it is our hottest product and we think it merits a hotter sounding name than Trainer. So, we’ve been switching things up. Also, if you are already familiar with our website, you might be noticing our snappy new look. Yep, we are making some changes in more than one department than the 3D-Bee Platinum. Stay tuned for more!
